I got pretty far on this last year but had to take an extended
interrupt doing some real work(!) I'll send you the code in a 
separate message. Perhaps you can finish it off as I won't have time to
look at it for a while. Some other people are interested as well.

My interface model is that one passes in a continuation that slurps
the bits and does whatever one wants. A couple of standard functions
can be provided for things like write to a file etc.
