The Community Services Network Project

The Community Services Network Project

The Community Services Network Project is a research project aimed at
learning how modern computer and communication technologies can support
and enhance the coordination of health and human services at the
community level. The project addresses the traditional fragmentation of
health and human services delivery to low-income, inner-city individuals
and families by linking teams of providers through a computer-based
communication network. In an attempt to provide these clients with
seamless, coordinated care, the Health and Human Services Coalition of
the District of Columbia is forming interdisciplinary case teams and
developing the attendant protocols of collaboration. To support this
collaboration, the Public Health Service is working with the coalition
to develop an electronic communications infrastructure that will
facilitate the sharing of information among team members.
