The nouvelle-AI revolution was crucial to bounce people out of a local optimum in research, thinking about non-monotonic logic solutions to esoteric puzzles. But we threw the baby out with the bathwater. We refocused AI research on phototaxis and wall-following. But there's a hell of a lot more to life than photoaxis and wall-following. In order to live a rich life in our complex environment, we have to interact with and manipulate things. So we have to think about things. So we have to encode information about things in our brains. So we need logic.
