Where: Meet in the 8th floor lobby (2pm)
Voting starts at 4:30pm
What: I'll give you a limited amount of constrruction material (such as straws, tape, paperclips etc.) and your job will be to build a bridge. No help can be received from the construction workers working on either side of the builiding.

Rules:

1) No materials other than those you are provided with can be used.

2) Each team has 120 mins for building.

3) No cheating.

Scoring:

Your score will be computed by
    length of the bridge *
    height of the bridge *
max load capacity (1 if can't satisfiy the min load requirement (1 empty Poland Spring bottle)) *
normalized number of group members who show up*
total bonus points (1 if none) *
normalized number of votes for the design  /
area of the contact surface on the ground (in square inches)

Bonus points for teams who can utilize their bridge as an oil pipeline that can transport oil (Oil is H20) from an oil reserve on one side of the bridge to the oil refinery on the other side. (Oil reserve and the refinery to be supplied by me.) Extra straws  will be available for the pipeline. Oil should be transported using the Amazing No Energy No Nothing Siphoning Technique (patent pending). ANENNST is the brand new technology for transporting fluids without consuming energy. You can even produce free electricity if you put a water turbine inside the straws, but this won't earn you extra bonus points.  1-10

More bonus points if your bridge resembles a real bridge (picture of the real bridge may be required if the judges need it for comparison purposes). 1-10

Design of each party will be judged by members of the remaining parties. This ensures all citizens have a say in the process.

Event commissioner has the final say in the interpretation of the rules.
