Execution Time won their semi-final game, so we are continuing on into
the finals. We play Zeta Psi tonight (Wed) at 10:30pm, and then
after the game we go out and celebrate the end of a fantastic season.
There's no other hockey tomorrow night, so you really have no good
reason not to show up. Whoo-hoo!
As for the semi-final game:
We won against "Toxic Waste" by the narrow margin of 3-2. Here is
a recap. (Please feel free to correct any obvious errors.)
Rodney scored the first goal at the beginning of the first period,
after being fed by Jack (I think) for the eighth time or so. The
old Daughtrey perseverence paid off! Toxic Waste held in there,
though, and came back with chippy little shot that snuck up past
Shawn's glove.
In the second period, Rodney slipped in the second goal, again fed by
Jack (I think) -- this time fed from behind the net through the legs
of a defender when the dreaded goalie Anand made the mistake of
leaving the goal for a little tete-a-tete with our Jack. We kept
up the 2-1 lead into the third period, although we were beginning
to lose a little steam.
Middle of the third period, Toxic Waste barged into our zone and scored
another goal, evening up the game. This woke up the gang. An explosive
defensive rally followed, with Scooby and Luke bringing down the smack
upon those Toxic Wastes who were trying to break the tie. At some point
Maddog (that's me) got hold of a loosened puck. Using a deep breath
and the skating skills drilled into him at the Leigh Heyman Skate Seminar,
he broke for a one-on-one with the goalie, and sunk the puck up into the
left corner of his net. We had the lead back, the next shift held that
lead, and then the game was over. Whoo-hoo!
Best part of all, everyone kept smiling, even when the opponents got a
bit pushy. When it was over, even the opposition was smiling.
Damn, that was a fun game. And we get another one tomorrow.
See you all there.
