This is the first botanical garden cemetery in the United States, with 170-acres of landscaped grounds. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and Oliver Wendell Holmes are among those buried there.
Set aside in 1631 for grazing cattle, training militia and holding assemblies, this park has been a focal point of political, religious and social activity for over 350 years.
