Re: understanding the http / tcp/ip relation

When I re-read http/1.1 doc from Fielding, Frystyk and Berners-Lee
(11/22/95) I found, in Sec. 5.1.2, some specific remarks on the
http/tcp relation. They say that for tcp, for example, that the machine
sends the host address only to set up the tcp connection (usu.
port 80) and then sends the string following the address as the path,
along with other info such as the method and http version. So
the light is dawning. Thanks to all for clarification.
