Sounds like a good idea to me.

The web certainly gives you more multimedia bang for your buck, not
to mention a rich standards base to build on.

With http 1.1 you can develop your own http methods to extend the protocol and
you can keep connections open.  So, you could embed your own MOO/MUD protocol
within HTTP.

You might have a look at ILU from Xerox to provide a mobile object layer.
It runs in
Common Lisp, among other languages. See the CL-HTTP references page.

You might also drum up some interest at Xerox PARC by contacting Larry
Masinter (masinter@parc.xerox.com), who has written a few MOOS.

You might want to talk to Kent Pitman (kmp@harlequin.com) who has had
considerable
experience with MOO/MUDS and is a Lisp wizard to boot.
