This is the article that some news filter service that ZD Net offers pulled
out. The reference for this article was:

I don't quite know what to think of their description of cl-http...

Mac Web Servers: They're Strong and Steady

I'm not going to try to divert anyone determined to set up a World Wide
Web site using Windows, OS/2 or Unix servers. But I do believe some of
the best Web server products are available for Macintosh servers.

The big dog in the Mac Web server market is WebStar, formerly from
Starnine Corp. and now a Quarterdeck Corp. product. The earlier
incarnation of WebStar, MacHTTP, is still available for a 30-day trial
at the Quarterdeck Web site.

Until recently, WebStar and MacHTTP were the only useful Web servers for
the Mac. Now, there are several to choose from, and some of them look
very good.

For those who expect to publish database-oriented Web sites, Web Server
4D may be a good choice. This full-featured server comes with a built-in
database, Common Gateway Interface-like agents, and many other features;
it will appeal to 4th Dimension database developers.

Another promising Web server, Boulevard, is a commercial product
currently available for free in a beta version.

The Common LISP Hypermedia Server, developed as a public project with
several contributing authors, is useful for "electronic book" publishing
and applies an artificial intelligence approach to Web publishing.

At the other end of the scale, the free-of-charge httpd4Mac is a minimal
Web server that should nonetheless get you up and running on the
Internet in no time. Another free server, WebCenter, is comparable to
MacHTTP and offers strong AppleScript support.

Netwings Internet Server is an ambitious product that combines Web,
SNMP, Post Office Protocol 3, gopher and list servers in one box.
Likewise, InterServer Publisher combines a Web, FTP and gopher server in
one package; in addition, it runs as a Mac extension rather than an
application.

Other interesting Web servers include Entrada (check out
http://www.pictorius.com) and Telefinder (http://www.spiderisland.com).
A company called Maxum Development Corp. (http://www.maxum.com) offers a
Web server and several handy Web site utilities that can plug into other
Mac Web servers.

If you are interested in how to set up and run Mac-based Web servers,
check out the Macintosh World Wide Web Frequently Asked Questions site
(http://arpp.carleton.ca/mac). This is the premiere repository of
technical tips, new product announcements and other valuable
information.

At the Well-Connected Mac Web site (http://www.macfaq.com), you should
be able to find anything you need quite easily. In addition, look into
the Macintosh WWW Pointers site (http://www.nmia.com/~jjm/home.html).
