CL-HTTP users using Allegro (ACL) on UNIX need to dowload an ACL patch: ftp://ftp.ai.mit.edu/pub/users/jcma/cl-http/acl-patch-60-53-1-10-23.tar.gz (ftp://ftp.ai.mit.edu/pub/users/jcma/cl-http/acl-patch-60-53-1-10-23.tar.Z) This fixes compilation bugs in the "server;sha" code. This is not needed for the NT/95 alpha version (but won't hurt) use: ftp://ftp.ai.mit.edu/pub/users/jcma/cl-http/sources-60-53.tar.gz

CL-HTTP 60.53 is available for all platforms from ftp://ftp.ai.mit.edu/pub/users/jcma/cl-http/ This is a minor release containing numerous bug fixes for all ports and for the common code. Interopertion with 1.0 proxy servers and other broken 1.0 clients will be better (eg, AOL Press). The server now only returns an http/1.1 version when it receives a 1.1 request; otherwise it downgrades the response to the level of the client. The opinion among implementors is that this yields the best backward compatibility. The MAC port is 4.0 and 3.1 ready. The ACL Windows port is now available for wider alphatesting. The Web walker is running on all platforms. Please report any bugs and submit your fixes too. Don't forget to send in your public sites for listing in the applications section of the home page and tell us about any interesting successes. Consider submitting a paper on your research to next year's dynamic object workshop. BTW, Don't forget to tell your friends and colleagues that you've now got the second release of the first HTTP 1.1 server. You can impress them with a few generated VRML scenes (the Netscape plugin works nicely on the PC and Mac). BTW2, The Apache server at www.ai.mit.edu is presently losing so you may have to go directly to the FTP site. It should get fixed tomorrow.
