Each robot has three gearboxes, two for the driving motors, and one for the mandibles. The gears come from model airplane servos, which I figured was a good design decision. They should be easy to get, right? Wrong! It took me eight months and scores of phone calls to get enough gears for all the robots. Building robots is not as glamourous as it might look.
